The Paris Agreement

The Paris Agreement was affirmed as the universal consensus agreement of the 195 nations that are signatories to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, at the end of the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21), on 12 December 2015.

The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was agreed at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, and mandates that Parties cooperate to “avoid dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.” The Paris Agreement is an implementation plan for universal shared, collaborative action to achieve this goal.
